As a research intern at the Robert R. Taylor Network, MIT sophomore, Xola Ntumy, is working primarily with the RRTN node network, and more specifically with the African node sites. This summer, she heads to Africa to set up two of these node sites and establish further contacts and relationships.
Xola is a computer science major at MIT. In her leisure time, she runs a radio show on MIT’s radio station, WMBR (88.1 FM) that plays contemporary Christian music. She also works as the webmaster of the MIT African Students Association and the secretary of a dedicated MIT service group: Expediting Access to Standard Education (EASE). Her summer internship at RRTN will give her hands-on experience of what it is like to be part of a business environment. Ultimately she hopes her time at RRTN will improve her communication, organization and networking skills.
